Snap! Roshnee's Photography Club in the making
A small group of enthusiastic and keen photographers have decided to etch out the beginnings of what is hoped to be, a fully-fledged photography club in Roshnee. This idea was initiated by a group including Yunus Chamda and Haroon Pochee, in order help fledgling shooters and aspiring wannabes to perfect their picture taking. They have gathered together some old-school photographers, like Essop Gathoo and Aswin Kalain and a few talented youngsters like Mems Carrim, and a bunch of very enthusiastic novice photographers.
The first meeting took place at the Library Activities Room . Ideas were gathered to assess the needs and scope of a potential club. What came out of the meeting is that these devoted shutterbugs are eager to share their work and skills and learn more about the craft. Amongst the ideas put forth was the planning of photography adventures with like-minded enthusiasts.
The world is full of photographers: school kids with their cell phone pictures; a traveller snaps his favoured spot, a climber stands on a remote precipice and clicks the shutter. With so many people taking so many different kinds of photos, it's no wonder that similar photography clubs are emerging. These are proving to be a popular way to learn more about the craft.
This is an open club, and it is hoped that the numbers of participant will swell over time. So if you are an aspiring photographer or have a passion for the art and would like to meet up with the group please send your contact info to Farhana at info@roshneetalk.co.za and you will be notified of the next meeting.
